PC Player '03

I just came across an interesting rating-article about Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory from back in 2003 when it was released. I saw it in a forum post from Saadi on et-scene.de. Check out the article – if you speak German…. 😉

Read the article: http://www.pcplayer.de/~tf/ET_high.pdf (pdf, 2.65mb)

… and still this game rocks 5 years later! 🙂

Remember “Suck My Ping”? I just happened to see the video again today on own3D.at. After 4 years now it made me remember the good old times and how I was fascinated with the nice frags from kaily back in 2004 when the fragmovie hit the scene… After seeing it I downloaded all the replays/demos that were available on the gods of quake website. 🙂

Check out “Suck My Ping” for nostalgia:

Kaily also released “Suck My Ping 2“. Plus he announced “Suck My Ping 3” and postponed it several times if I remember it correctly. But Part 3 was never released though (except for the trailer).

... acting headless?

... acting headless?

In Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory each playermodel gets 2 or 3 boxes drawn around itself. Those boxes are the hitable sweet-spots – the hitboxes. Hitboxes have always been a problem in Enemy Territory as they seemed to be not accurate enough, wrong or even missing. This especially concerned the head-box which registers headshots that do up to 50 damage and thus far more than body shots what makes them very desirable. Bani tried to fix the problem with ET Pro and he came up with new headbox-code b_realhead (see changes in ET Pro 3.2.0, May 2005), better antilag-code and other stuff; but the results still seemed to be everything but perfect. Let’s have a look at some screenshots of ET Main & ET Pro hitboxes in different situations and draw implications for our gameplay. Continue reading

Trickjump-Movie: No Space Impact.

Check out this fresh new trickjump-movie that has been released 6 days ago. It has got really a lot of cool jumps not from this world, which I’m sure I’ll never be able to do but which are nevertheless fun to watch – just to know what theoretically could be possible. 🙂 I personally like the Supply Depot-jump at 2:20 best. But enjoy those 8 1/2 trickjump-minutes for yourselves…

In Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory you do not necessarily shoot at where your cross-hair points: like in real life bullets do spread. There are three dimensions where you should know the details to master spread and improve your accuracy and aiming: (A) the game engine, (B) your setup/configuration and (C) your way of playing.

But now to the insights… Continue reading
